Random Question I ask everybody...What is your favorite kind of music?
Mine are, Punk Rock, Country, Nerdcore Gangsta Rap, and Humorous music.

i'm just wondering, how do they consider rap to be music? It's just talking so fast that you can't understand what they're saying. I would have to say parody things and rock.

What about Drum and Bass. Electronic I love becuase you can get different songs and mix them together and it sounds cool. Electronic is just synthesizer noises basicly. barely music. they use it as dance music in clubs alot too.

:P You guys started this forum at 11:00? I was at school. Anyway, I HATE RAP  ! I mean, if you can do tounge twisters, you can rap. All you have to do is talk real fast. So no, I don't consider it music.

Man I am such a loser! I never put my favorite music types. I like Techno and Rock. Certain Metal. But there is one type of music that everyone in the world likes. It's called "Good Music", something that's hard to come by these days.

You could also argue that punk isn't music because it's all bad guitar playing. 
My favorite genres of music would probably have to be post-punk, new wave, certain off-shoots of IDM, glitch, Balkan music, and twee.

Guitar is music, right. But you forget that music is a form of art and not entertainment, and it's not a science either. There is no formula for music -- the only requirements are coordinated sound and a meaning, serious or not. Rap has both so it is music. Some of it's really bad, but it's still music.
Vocals aren't necessary. It makes the meaning and the emotion behind the song clear, but it's really an "embellishment." I'm hoping you've listened to classical or jazz or even post-rock (Explosions in the Sky-esque) at one time or another. No vocals, but it's still music. Some people would even argue that only classical and jazz are music, and that everything else is rubbish. I disagree but totally understand.
I don't know what I'm talking about anymore. I went on sort of a rant, I guess, and forgot what else I was supposed to say.
I am sort of surprised I made this post because I'm usually a prick about music. I'm open to most everything but really closedminded at the same time. I tend to dislike music released on major labels. Whether it's because I genuinely dislike the music or because I refuse to support major labels is still unknown to me. Most likely the latter.

Rap is not music because ALL they "talk" about is what they did their girl friend lastnight!!! Rap is only talk really fast to a beat. I don't know how it is considered music.
And who doesn't know that music isn't art????

No, that's not all rap is about. That's what mainstream rap is about. It's sort of how mainstream "rock" (whatever you think the term means) is not a good representation of what all "rock" is like.
Rap is not music to you because you don't like the way it sounds and choose not to dig deeper for some good tunes, and that leads you to believe that all rap is like whatever's popular now.
I take it you've never heard of freestyle rap battles or ever tried to write a rhyme. It's not as easy as it seems and it takes a lot of talent to pull it off. Hell, it's difficult to even come up with a halfway decent beat.
It's art and it's music, and I wish you wouldn't be so ignorant about things. I bet I sound like a real bitch right now, and I apologize. But music is important to me and diversity is what keeps it amazing.

The only difference between a rapper and a hobo is the hobo has better English and doesn't have the "Bling-Bling" crap. I mean, they both dress like as if the cloths they wear were found on the street, or a dumpster.

What rappers dress like hobos?
I can understand disliking hip-hop and rap because I don't like a lot of it either. But to be so openly against it, "argue" that it's not music, and not be able to give a good reason why is completely mind-blowing.

What rappers dress like hobos? I dunno, any of them that wear a crappy old t-shirt, have ripped pants, that selt belt in the car used as a belt for your pants, and those ugly beanies they wear.

Niinja, now adays they wear sideways caps. And their pants are almost down to their knees? It would be funny to see em run or trip!!
And omg they're so dumb. THey use double negatives. And once cops were chasing a gangster. Thr gangster's pants started to fall down so he took them off and threw at the cops. The cops ,however, found his wallet in his pants which had his ID and stuff.

Sorry. I don't keep up with the times, mainly because they're stupid like rap or dorky like disco. And I heard about gangsters with pants so low they fall down when they're being chased by the cops. When I was in elementry school this cop came and gave us a speech. He said to everyone that "Baggy pants are a cops best friend." And he's right. Too bad all of the criminals, not just the gangsters, wore baggy pants.

No, the reason why laughing adds years to your life is because it takes away stress. If your stressed out all the time, you don't tend to live as long.
